Zlín Zoo Among Top 10 Tourist Attractions in the Czech Republic for 18 Years
We're thrilled! Last year, we became the 7th most visited tourist destination in the Czech Republic! Among Czech zoos, we've proudly held the position of the second most popular zoo continuously since 2003. Thank you for your support!
Zlín Mayor Jiří Korec praised the zoo's success, calling it a symbol of innovation, ecological responsibility, and a major driver of tourism and the regional economy. He thanked zoo staff for their dedication and the local community for their support.
Zoo Director Roman Horský emphasized the importance of visitor support and the zoo’s unique philosophy: ensuring maximum comfort for animals, offering memorable experiences for guests, and supporting wildlife conservation. Nearly 800,000 people visited in 2024 — a remarkable number for a city of just 75,000.
Zlín Zoo’s financial independence is also noteworthy, covering around 90% of its operational costs — a figure comparable to top global zoos.
Looking Ahead to 2025
The highlight of 2025 will be the opening of the Czech Republic’s first lion rescue and breeding center on September 6. This marks a new phase of the zoo's African Karibuni project, which will eventually include safari-style camps, a 360-seat restaurant, hippos, and other African species. Additional highlights this year include the new Gibonika exhibit and rare births of jaguar and striped hyena cubs.
Come visit us — we look forward to welcoming you!
