Visit Zlín Zoo

Even in the nearly winter season, Zlín Zoo has its own charm – it’s full of life and definitely worth a visit.

You don’t need to worry that you won’t see any animals during cold weather or snowfall. Most animals actually enjoy fresh snow, eagerly rolling in it and playing with it. And this doesn’t apply only to natural cold-lovers like Amur tigers, red pandas, geladas, camels, kangaroos or vicuñas, but also to warm-loving rhinos, ostriches, or antelopes.

In the outdoor Jaguar Trek exhibit, from 10:00 to 14:00, you can see the entire jaguar family; the six-month-old female Mayara happily plays throughout the whole enclosure. Every day from 10:00 to 14:00 you can also admire our five-member pride of Congo lions in their new exhibit in Karibuni, and at 14:00 don’t miss their feeding! Humboldt penguins also have no trouble with temperatures around zero. Their feathers and subcutaneous fat serve as perfect insulation. During their regular feedings in the outdoor pool at 10:00 and 15:00, you’ll see them even when the whole exhibit is covered in a white “blanket.”

For extra comfort, you can visit the large pavilions. In Stingray Bay you can enjoy touching and feeding the stingrays, in the giraffe pavilion you can look the giraffes straight in the eyes, and you’ll quickly forget about the freezing weather in the tropical Yucatan hall, perhaps in the company of giant otters or a family group of capuchin monkeys.

Zlín Zoo is open every day of the year, currently from 8:30 to 16:00 (zoo grounds, Stingray Bay, tropical hall, restaurants), with ticket offices and turnstiles operating until 15:30. The Tyrol restaurant and Chocolaterie offer refreshments and hot meals every day, and on weekends the Neapolitano restaurant is also available.
