Did you know you can visit a chateau whilst visiting our zoo?
The enchanting Chateau Lešná, built in 1893 by the Austrian noble family Seilern und Aspang, has been the proud heart of the Zlín Zoo grounds for over a century. Despite being one of the youngest chateaus in the Czech Republic, its 11 historically furnished rooms will quite literally take your breath away.
Explore this romantic noble residence, which offered all the modern comforts of its time — including hot water heating, electricity, bathrooms with hot and cold water, a private telephone system, and flushing toilets. You’ll walk through grand halls where the Seilern family once welcomed guests, and also step into their private chambers. Along the way, you'll discover a silver treasure, unique artifacts from around the world, a mummy, and even a predecessor of today’s hot tubs!
The standard guided tour of the chateau lasts 45 minutes. The tour is guided in Czech, the text guides are available in English, Polish, German, Italian, Russian and French.
During the summer holidays (July and August), you can purchase a ticket for an extended 80-minute tour, which will take you to the journey across not only the ground floor, but also the first upper floor of the chateau.
