2025 – The Most Successful Year in the History of Zoo Zlín
The year 2025 was outstanding for Zoo Zlín. A record 812,172 visitors passed through the zoo gates, nearly 50,000 more than in 2024.
Record attendance was also recorded at Lešná Castle, an integral part of the zoo complex; in 2025, 37,180 people visited the castle interiors, the highest number since 1990.
According to Jiří Korec, Mayor of the Statutory City of Zlín, the record attendance at Zlín Zoo is excellent news for both the city and the region and confirms the importance of investments in the development of the zoo. The zoo’s success is based on top-quality animal care, the protection of endangered species, and an attractive offer for visitors.
The year 2025 became historic, as for the first time since the zoo was founded in 1948, annual attendance surpassed 800,000 visitors, which occurred on December 25, 2025. During the year, the first rescue and breeding center for lions in the Czech Republic was opened, a new Gibbon exhibit was launched, and the entire first stage of the unique African Karibuni area was made accessible to visitors.
In 2025, Zlín Zoo once again confirmed its reputation as a world-class institution in the breeding and protection of endangered species and achieved several significant breeding successes, including through the 4Nature fundraising campaign. From this campaign, 3 CZK from every ticket go to the public collection. Thanks to record attendance, the zoo managed to raise over 2 million CZK, which will be used not only for the protection of specific species, scientific research, and the engagement of local communities, but also to support sustainable coexistence between humans and animals.
