Discover the diverse fauna of South America right under the Tropical Hall.


In the spacious enclosures and aviaries, you’ll find tapirs, capybaras, anteaters, and colorful birds.

Interesting facts:

  • South American tapirs – share a grassy enclosure with the capybaras.

  • Roseate spoonbills and Inca terns – from April to October, they inhabit an aviary near the enclosure, together with other South American bird species.

  • Saddleback tamarins – small but very active and lively residents of the exhibit.

  • Waterfowl aviary – home to roseate spoonbills, scarlet ibises, gray-winged ibises, and collared aracaris.

  • Giant anteaters – can be seen in a spacious grassy enclosure.
