Amazonia

Year opened: 2004

Unexampled across Europe, this unique block of natural enclosures was set up around a system of water reservoirs.

The largest of these has its small island that is part of the squirrel monkey display. A thirty-headed pack, these small South American primates range in the tree tops on the island almost all day long. The surface of water and the lake sides were colonised by diverse species of anseriform birds and wading birds. Visiting the walk-through section discovers maguari storks and black-necked swans.
