Giant otters

Year opened: 2012

For most visitors, this exhibit becomes the first stop when visiting the zoo with its location next to the sea lion house that stands very close to the main zoo entrance.

The area extends over 563 square metres, with indoor and outdoor sections clearly defined. While the outdoor enclosure consists of land, a ditch with water lilies and a body of water with a capacity of 220 cubic metres, the indoor quarters are a part of the Yucatan exhibit, the total indoor area of the latter being 1,325 square metres. The creatures can be watched outdoors only from above, but visiting the indoor area, you can see the otters range not only from the wooden footbridge, but also under the water surface, which is possible due to the pool with a capacity of 18 cubic metres.
